New Season, New Experiences.

This new season is introducing all kinds of new rhythms, house chores, activities and experiences. One thing in particular that’s new for me is tending to our pool.

On our second night in the house, the pool light went out. So I did what every good modern DIYer does: I went to YouTube and searched, “How to change a pool light.”

It looked soooo simple. In fact, every video I watched basically said so!

After watching several DIY videos, I felt confident enough to order everything I needed from Amazon and replace the pool light myself.

When everything arrived, I called my electrician Dad so he could coach me through my latest DIY adventure. Without getting into too much detail, it became apparent pretty quickly that this was NOT as easy as the YouTubers made it look. 😂

Thankfully, Dad was “there” via FaceTime to at least keep me from electrocuting myself!

When it was all said and done, I did NOT replace the bulb. Turns out, the problem is bigger than that. And after buttoning the fixture back up, still without a working light, I walked away with two Band-Aid-worthy cuts from the attempt.

So, to recap:

Pool light fixed: ❌

New DIY skills acquired: questionable

Electrocution avoided: ✅

Dad still needed at 54 years old: ✅ 😂

New season. New rhythms. New lessons. New experiences. New opportunities.

And apparently…I need to hire a new pool light replacement guy!
