Thankful

Yesterday I left early to head to Ft. Lauderdale, where I picked up Roman to spend the day. Here’s the catch: he didn’t know that we had moved. He didn’t know that we had passed the baton at Riverbank. He had no idea.
Over the past few months, I’ve been in communication with some of the leaders of the program he is a part of. They felt that knowing all of the things would be a distraction in his growth process. We agreed.
When I arrived at 9am, he was shocked. He had no idea I was coming or about our relocation. So, with a FaceTime call on my phone, we surprised him and told him all the things. It was a pretty special moment to let him know he was going to spend the day at our new house and that we’d now be able to visit and spend more time together.
It’s not a short trip from Vero to Ft. Lauderdale (about 1:45), so we caught up with some great father/son bonding and convo, and a stop for café con leche!
We got home to a welcome committee of Penny and the dogs, and we spent the day just being present, swimming in the pool, and looking through old items in storage.
We ended the day worshipping together at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale (his home church) and having dinner at Flanagan’s.
These parents’ hearts are full and hopeful. We’re so thankful to be closer to our son as he works so very hard on himself and continues to grow in his thriving faith.
More of these days to come…
